
Brigadier General Taef Ul Haq has a long and distinguished career with the Bangladesh Armed Forces spanning over thirty-two years. His career is an ideal blend of command, staff and instructional appointments at various levels including three assignments with UN field missions.
His command experiences lead him to command three battalions as Lieutenant Colonel and two
brigades and one UN sector as Brigadier General. As a platoon leader he had the opportunity to
actively participate in counter insurgency operations in Bangladesh. As Brigadier General he was
also the Task Force Commander to develop a remote island as a manoeuvre training ground for
Bangladesh Armed Forces. ln doing so he was involved in socio economic development for the backward people of the island. Under UN blue cap, he had the experience of three successful tenures as contingent member (UNAMSIL), Staff Officer at Force Headquarters (UNOCI) and
Sector Commander (UNMISS) in 2002, 2007 and 2020 respectively. ln December 2019, as a pioneer Sector Commander he raised a new sector headquarters in Bentiu, South Sudan'
He was a distinguished instructor in two prime military institutions in Bangladesh. He has served in staff assignment in all tiers of headquarters in Bangladesh Armed Forces in different rank and appointment. ln his distinguished career, he also worked as Principal, Jahanabad Public
school & college and led its development. He is a graduate from Defence services command and Staff College and National Defense College, Mirpur, Bangladesh. He attended number of
courses at home and abroad.
Brig Gen Taef has obtained Masters of Defence Studies and Master of Science (Technical) degree from National University and Bangladesh University of Professionals, Bangladesh and currently pursuing his Master of Philosophy. He is an alumnus of Daniel K lnouye Asia Pacific
Centre for Security Studies, Hawaii, USA.
He was the member of Bangladesh government delegation in 'EU Arms Trade Treaty Outreach project' seminar in Manila, Philippines and was the delegation leader in 'UNOCHA -
world Humanitarian Summit Regional Consultation for South and Central Asia' held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan in 2015. Brig Gen Taef was also the member of first responder team from
Bangladesh during the massive earthquake at Nepal in April 20L5.
Brigadier General Taef Ul Haq is married with two children. He loves to play golf and his hobby is travelling and reading.
